Set Network Adapter Profile to Private

For Windows 2016, it does not seems like there is a clear way to do it from GUI, so i have to do it using the cmdlet.

First list down all the network adapter, important thing is the InterfaceIndex.

PS C:\Users\Administrator> Get-NetConnectionProfile Name : Unidentified network InterfaceAlias : SLOT 4 Port 2 InterfaceIndex : 19 NetworkCategory : Public IPv4Connectivity : NoTraffic IPv6Connectivity : NoTraffic Name : Unidentified network InterfaceAlias : NIC2 InterfaceIndex : 13 NetworkCategory : Public IPv4Connectivity : NoTraffic IPv6Connectivity : NoTraffic

Then you can execute the cmdlet below to set the adapter profile to private. In this example, i am setting SLOT 4 Port 2 which has the InterfaceIndex of 19

 

PS C:\Users\Administrator> Set-NetConnectionProfile -InterfaceIndex 19 -NetworkCategory Private
